NVIDIA set to launch Tegra 3 platform at MWC?

updated 12:05 am EST, Fri January 21, 2011

Latest ARM-based chipset

NVIDIA may be set to formally unveil its Tegra 3 platform next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, according to a Hexus report. Although the company has yet to commit to a launch date, the company's Tegra GM, Mike Rayfield, suggests the company would "come pretty close to my cadence of a launch every year."

Tegra 2 was introduced in January 2010 at CES, but the company did not launch Tegra 3 earlier this month in Las Vegas. Mobile World Congress is the next big event befitting of a significant introduction for SoC components.

"It will be in production around the same time as my competitors' first dual-cores will," Rayfield added.

Aside from the Tegra information, the executive also provided additional insight into its ARM endeavors. An upcoming processor family, labeled Project Denver, will bring ARM cores onto the Windows platform around the same time the company's Maxwell GPUs arrive on the market, which is expected sometime in 2013.
