Sync tool manages multiple iTunes libraries, more
SuperSync, a tool that allows users to merge, compare, sync and serve their music across multiple computers, accounts, libraries and even the net, has been updated to v4, with an all-new GUI, faster speed and performance, support for managing libraries under multiple user accounts on the same computer, improved mobile-device support and a new internet search for album art and additional information among other features.
The program now offers an improved duplicate finder, support for syncing both regular and "smart" iTunes playlists, It is ideal for consolidating multiple iTunes libraries (though it can use other music folders as well), transferring iTunes library from PC to Mac or vice-versa, allowing access to your music library through the net, and improves upon iTunes' built-in Home Sharing feature by allowing an unlimited number of synced computers and offering easier two-way synchronization.
The biggest change for users will be the implementation of a visual comparison window that color-codes music entries from multiple libraries so that users can see, at a glance, which items are in all, some, or just one library, eliminating duplicate tracks and wasted disk space. The built-in internet search can help grab lyrics, artwork or additional information about a song or artists, and the support for multiple user accounts on the same machine means each user can have access to all the other users' music libraries without copying.
SuperSync includes a built-in web server, allowing music to be played over a browser on any other computer --making it easy, for example, to access one's home music library at work, or to listen to songs stored on a computer on any mobile device with internet access.
The program also offers both backup capability as well as "recovering" items that are only found on mobile devices back to a computer library, including not just the media files themselves but their ratings, playlists, play counts and more.
SuperSync v4 is a free update to registered users, but a full version sells for $29 for a two-seat license, $39 for five seats and $49 for ten seats. A free demo is available with a limit of syncing or accessing up to 25 tracks per launch. The program is compatible with both PPC and Intel Macs going back to 10.2.8, but is optimized for iTunes 10 which requires 10.5 or later (and QuickTime 7.6 or higher).
