FontGear's FontDoctor 8 adds speed, updates user-interface

updated 09:25 pm EST, Thu January 20, 2011

Repair charts, one-on-one comparison tools added

FontGear has launched an update to its font repair utility, FontDoctor 8. The software scans local and networked font folders, diagnosing and repairing problems such as missing fonts, bitmaps, and corrupt or damaged fonts. Version 8 adds a new interface, along with faster diagnosis and repair times. It comes with new charts for repair reports and adds a font-comparison tool for direct comparisons between similar fonts.

The software also can optimize a user's workflow by generating a new font library organized in a number of optional ways, such as foundry name or font name.

Font Doctor 8 requires a Mac with Mac OS X 10.4 or newer. It costs $70 for a single license or $350 for a site license.
