Mystery HTC phone renders hint Desire, Wildfire sequels

HTC smartphone renderings show up on the web

HTC may be working on a number of new form factors for its handsets, a number of leaks from PocketNow reveals. The first has shown what's expected to be a new flagship, resembling the company's current top-of-the-rung offering, the Desire HD. A front-facing camera is present for video chats, as is a rounder overall shape. It would run on Android, and based on the size of buttons below would have a slightly smaller 4- or 3.8-inch touchscreen.

Also shown is a squatter version of traditionally long handsets, earning it the unofficial mini moniker. This one also has a mechanical trackball and the screen size may be set at 3.2 inches. The buttons reveal it will also run on Android, and either a light sensor or front-facing camera lives near the top right corner. It bears a resemblance to the HTC Wildfire, which also has a touchpad rather than a trackball, and could be its successor.

Finally, more images of a button-less phone have surfaced, lining up with a rumor from last week. This time, a new HTC-branded image is part of the render in addition to the Verizon-badged phone from last week. The buttonless design may indicate a handset powered by Android 3.0, which is optimized for touch-only inputs.

When the new devices show up in the flesh is unknown, but with Mobile World Congress around the corner in February, there is a good chance it will be soon.
