Apple sues Nokia in the UK to invalidate touchscreen patent

Apple files another Nokia lawsuit over touch tech

Apple late Wednesday sued Nokia again in an attempt to negate recent countering lawsuits. The new London-based complaint hoped to invalidate one of the touchscreen scrolling patents Nokia used to sue Apple in Germany in September. The two companies currently have a total of 37 patents in dispute.

Nokia was the first to sue and insisted over a year ago that Apple was infringing on patents mostly relating to 3G that it argues everyone must license. Apple rejected the claims and has maintained that Nokia took action only after it was denied access to key Apple patents. Nokia hoped to use the threat of patent lawsuits to 'steal' iPhone technology after it couldn't compete on its own, Apple has said in the past.

Apple hasn't commented on the lawsuit, but Nokia has indicated an intention to defend against the most recent action.
