Apple support company drops lawsuit against Greek customer

Systemgraph admits to 'excessive' response

One of Apple's official support companies, Systemgraph, has dropped a lawsuit it filed against a Greek customer, reports say. Dimitris Papadimitriadis brought an iMac to the company to fix dark areas in the display, only to get worse results in return. The legal action came as a result of a public complaint in a web forum, which Systemgraph subsequently insisted was "an organised attempt to slander and insult" the firm.

The suit is said to have evaporated a few days before it went to court, with Systemgraph admitting that it overreacted. "We were led to an excessive and inappropriate response, and finally accepting that Mr. Papadimitriadis' intention was not to undermine the reputation and credibility, withdraw such court action," a statement reads. Papadimitriadis notes however that the company is not currently reimbursing him for his legal costs; a lawyer is said to have told him that the ultimate burden of compensation falls on Apple.

The Greek consumer ombudsman is reportedly attempting to broker an agreement. Systemgraph's lawsuit triggered a minor firestorm of negative online publicity, not only in the media but on Twitter through the #systemgraph hashtag. Greek residents lack the option of going to an Apple Store for service.

    So the verdict so far

..is that iSquare which is the local Apple representative forces Systemgraph to start the lawsuit. The owner got billed 3000 euros in legal costs and still has a dysfunctional iMac!

And in regard to the AppleStore, iSquare names their stores AppleStores without Apple approval of any procedure therein. iSquare refuses to repair most of the Macs bought from any other dealer or outside Greece!

    from what I have read

This gentleman was unhappy with the claim that the repair company was within legal requirements by offering to do a second for free. He instead demanded a full replacement of the entire computer when only the screen was the issue. NOT the more reasonable demand to have his original money returned to him so he could use it to pay for a second repair with another company, having 'lost faith' in the first group

from at least one version that I read, the local compliance office confirmed that the first shop was not required to replace the entire computer for this particular repair and the guy still demanded a whole brand new computer. And then went online with his comments.

Seems to me the gent was just as guilty of being extreme
