Xperia Arc gets video detailing CPU, OS, more

Sony Ericsson, on its blog this week, revealed detailed information about the Xperia Arc smartphone introduced at CES last week. A video is embedded below that talks about the features of the handset, and confirms that the handset runs a 1GHz MSM8255 CPU (second-generation Snapdragon) and an Adreno 205 GPU that debuted in the HTC Desire HD. The author of the post and video cautions that the software is still in an early stage of development and will be changed before the handset is launched.

Otherwise, the music player will have an equalizer feature with 10 genre-based presets, Mediascape makes room for a customizable widget thus far called media pane. The blog also reveals that the handset will not run a version of Android higher than 2.3, as mistakenly seen elsewhere in certain samples, but does say software updates will be sent out in a "timely manner."

There are two microphones onboard for noise cancellation, while the LED camera flash can be put into Auto, Fill-flash, Red-eye Reduction and Off modes. The screen will support as many as four simultaneous touch inputs in apps that support this. Finally, 802.11n Wi-Fi is built-in, and the handset will be available in both misty silver and midnight blue colors when it ships at an undisclosed date early this year.
