Novatel USB551L details back Mac support

Novatel at CES confirmed with us that the USB551L 4G modem it unveiled at CES would be the first LTE modem in the US to work with Macs. Unlike the LG and Pantech modems from the December launch, the new stick will support Mac OS X Tiger or newer along with the usual Windows support. Novatel always tries to support the Mac at the same time, a spokesman said at the ShowStoppers event at the show.

The MiFi 4510L pocket router was always going to have cross-platform support as it still uses web-based controls.

Verizon hasn't said when the USB551L will ship or given the modem a price, though both its existing LTE modems cost $100 on a two-year data contract. It should show on the market in the first half of the year and likely by the spring.
