More details uncovered, video demo

The upcoming Sony Playstation phone, the Xperia Play, has been given a run through by Chinese website IT168. The phone was conspicuously missing in action from Sony's CES keynote, but is expected to be formally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. However, this latest Chinese leak now leaves a lot less for Sony to reveal next month as a number of new details have emerged about the Android-powered handset.

Newly confirmed is that that the Xperia-branded mobile is powered by a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU paired with a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 as incorporated into the HTC Desire HD. The current software optimization has the new Sony flagship hitting 59.1fps for gaming graphics rendering.

Also unveiled in the new leak is that the phone has a high capacity 1,500mAh battery and that the new display is 854x480 pixels and measures 4.0-inches diagonally. It has 512MB of RAM, 512 of ROM, a microSD slot, SIM slot, micro-USB port a 5-megapixel camera equipped with an LED flash.

The PlayStation Pocket app launcher seen in the third photo below remains empty with games currently being launched in the typical manner of Android apps from the homescreen. [via Engadget]
