Acer intros Android-based Liquid Mini and beTouch handsets

updated 12:30 am EST, Fri January 7, 2011

Both phones ship with Android 2.2

Amid a large number of cellphone unveilings this week at CES, Acer has introduced two new Android-based handsets. The Liquid Mini and beTouch E210 are aimed at entry-level smartphone users, though both offerings ship with Android 2.2. The Liquid Mini integrates a 3.2-inch 480x320 touchscreen, along with a 600MHz processor and a five-megapixel camera.

The beTouch E210 brings a smaller, 2.6-inch touchscreen, leaving room for a portrait QWERTY keyboard on the facade. Other features include a 416Mhz processor, while both devices come equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM radios.

The Liquid Metal and beTouch are slated for April and March launches in the UK. The company has yet to announce pricing or plans for a North American release.

    Really now, come on...

there is no longer anything special about releasing a new smartphone anymore (unless it truely is something new or much anticipated). These two handsets look a lot like any other dozen or so phones already out in the market place - I really can't tell the difference. These phones hardly deserve mention at a trade show. Its now the equivalent to presenting any feature phone as though it was noteworthy. I suspect the lack of interest to be so high that no one will even bother to read this article.
