Feature wide-angle LEICA lens, 720p HD video

Panasonic has introduced four new cameras to its Lumix FH-series of digital cameras. The cameras take 720p HD video and offer shutter speeds as fast as 0.005 seconds for still photos. The FH27 and FH25 upgrade the FH20 introduced last year with a 16.1-megapixel sensor and a Leica DC 28mm-equivalent wide angle lens with 8x optical zoom. The FH27 features a 3-inch LCD touch control screen, while the FH25 has a standard 2.7-inch LCD.

The Lumix FH5 and FH2 are ultraslim models. Each has a wide angle Leica lens with 4x optical zoom that retracts into the camera body when turned off. The FH5 has a 16.1-megapixel sensor, while the FH2 has 14.1-megapixel resolution.

All four cameras provide a tagging function to facilitate transfer to social media sites such as YouTube or Facebook using a connection to a PC. The cameras also have 70MB of internal storage, and a variety of automated functions to improve picture quality, such as auto-focus, subject tracking, image stabilization, and composition settings.

The Lumix FH27 will be available in a brushed metal-finished panel in black, red and silver. Choices for the FH25 will be silver, black, red, blue and violet.

The FH5 will come in silver, black, violet and gold models, while the FH2 will be available in black, pink, red and blue.

Pricing and ship date for the cameras have not been announced.

    I was really hoping...

...for yet another lens precedent - say 20~100mm equivalent... Digital distortion compensation has made such things seem more appealing !
