Quad-core i7 powers new high-end offering

Acer has expanded its Aspire notebook lineup with a new flagship and several midrange models. The AS8950G represents the company's highest-performing notebook, pairing Intel's quad-core i7-2630QM processor with ATI Radeon discrete graphics and 2GB of dedicated graphics memory. An 18.4-inch display features 1080p resolution and LED backlighting, while the trackpad can be switched from gesture mode to a media console mode for playback control.

The company's new midrange Aspire offerings include the 15-inch 5750 and 5750G, along with the 17-inch 7750G. Each is powered by Intel's second-generation Core i7 processors. The 5750G offers NVIDIA discrete graphics and Optimus switching, while the 7750G integrates ATI Radeon discrete components.

The midrange and high-end notebooks were launched alongside the basic Aspire 5253, which integrates a dual-core AMD processor and Radeon discrete graphics.

The AS8950G will ship next week, with prices starting at $1,600. The midrange models will arrive around the same time, with prices starting at $900 for the 15-inch models or $1030 for the 17-inch variant. The 5253 carries an MSRP of $450.
