Samsung confirms Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab

updated 07:15 pm EST, Wed January 5, 2011

Pricing remains unclear

Among a long list of product unveilings at CES, Samsung made a minor announcement regarding the Galaxy Tab. The tablet, which was initially paired with 3G service from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and other carriers, will soon be available with a Wi-Fi-only option.

The device was initially criticized for its high price in comparison to the iPad. It remains unclear if the lack of 3G components will bring a significant reduction in cost. Samsung has yet to disclose pricing, however early rumors point to $500.

Previous leaks already pointed to the Wi-Fi-only variant, which was reportedly delayed from arriving at Best Buy.
