Leaked benchmark results beat Nexus One

A source managed to get a quick hands-on review of the HTC Thunderbolt for AndroidSpin, in advance of the official Verizon launch. First impressions are that the handset is very responsive, although battery life may be an issue. The Thunderbolt ran a Quadrant benchmark score of 1926, ranking ahead of the Google Nexus One, Moto Droid X, and HTC Evo by a fair margin. The Thunderbolt runs the newest HTC Sense UI and Android 2.1.2 (Eclair).

Matching what had been reported earlier, the source said the Thunderbolt had a single core, 1GHz ARM v7 processor and a 4.3-inch display. The handset appears to have an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Internal memory of 8GB is expandable up to an additional 32GB by SD card. It did not have an HDMI port.

HTC Maps and Navigation were included on the phone examined by the source, as is DLNA support through another preinstalled HTC app.

Verizon has stated that it will officially unveil the Thunderbolt at CES2011 on January 6.

Love the Verizon logo on the top....

I guess the HTC logo is relegated to the back.

There is a compromise between speed and battery life. No point having the fastest phone if the battery life is poor. Phone doesn't get any slower than off.

The iPhone 4 will look just as nice with that Verizon logo plastered on the front earpiece.

    iPhone 4 with Verizon logo....

really?...luckily some companies have enough sway to prevent this from happening.
