New 10.1-inch offering for Android

MSI has confirmed plans to formally unveil a variety of new products in January at CES, including an ultraportable and several new tablets. The WindPad 100 tablets, which were teased earlier in the year, will both be based on 10.1-inch displays. The 100A tablet offers a full range of standard Android equipment including a digital compass, GPS, accelerometer, and Wi-Fi.

The 100A measures 14mm thick, only slightly larger than the iPad and 3mm thicker than the seven-inch Galaxy Tab. The tablet is powered by NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 platform, which is expected to drive the tablet-optimized Android 3.0 OS.

The Windows-based 100W variant steps up to an Intel processor, likely one of the newer Oak Trail chips in the Atom family. The device also integrates a 32GB SSD, accelerometer, light sensor and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Among the tablet offerings, MSI is also set to introduce the 12-inch Wind U270 and 13-inch X370 notebooks. The U270 is claimed to offer impressive battery life, though the company has yet to disclose specific details. Standard features include USB 3.0 ports and Blu-ray drives.

Other notebook unveilings will include the G Series, which will include 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch sizes based on Intel's quad-core mobile processors. The G series, along with the company's new F- and C-series full-size notebooks, are expected to be based on mobile versions of Intel's Sandy Bridge processors.

MSI has yet to confirm pricing and specific launch dates for the new devices.
