Event should reveal iPad's holiday performance
Apple has announced that it will publish the results for its first fiscal quarter of 2011 on January 18th. A conference call with analysts will take place at 2PM Pacific time that day, or 5PM Eastern. A page for the public webcast has yet to be put online; Apple promises that a link will be available "at a later date."
The quarter, which is only just ending, is expected to prove an important one for Apple since it represents the first holiday shopping period to include the iPad. The company rapidly expanded distribution of the tablet in the run-up to Christmas, making it available through the likes of AT&T, Target, Walmart, Sam's Club and Verizon. Kaufman analyst Shaw Wu recently adjusted his iPad estimate for the quarter from 5.5 million units to 6.1.
