iFixit launches Repair Manual app for iPad

updated 10:35 pm EST, Thu December 23, 2010

Guides for repairing a wide variety of devices

iFixit has brought its free repair guides to the iPad in the form of a native app, Repair Manual. The utility provides access to thousands of guides for MacBooks, iOS devices, game consoles, a wide variety of digital cameras, and hundreds of cell phones.

Users can view step-by-step instructions for disassembly and component replacement, with individual guides focused on specific problems. Like iFixit's website, the app pairs high-resolution images with each step. Swipe gestures move forward or back through each step of the process, while pinch and tap gestures zoom in for a closer look at each image.

Repair Manual is now available as a free app on the App Store. The utility is open source and ad-free, supported by sales from iFixit's large inventory of parts and specialized tools.

    Hmmm ...

Kinda flawed recursively by its medium .... if it's an app for the iPad, and you're trying to dissassemble the said iPad, then how would you use it? You'd have to turn off your iPad to do repairs, but you also need your iPad to see the manual !!!! I think they need to offer it as a web version as well. This is like when your phone is not working, but the only way to get help, is to phone the support centre of the phone company !!! hello !!!
