Sega returns to console gaming with its Toylet

Four games to date, including multiplayer

Sega Japan has returned to console gaming, although not in a way anyone might have imagined, with its new Toylet. Bring an entirely new paradigm of gaming interaction, a pressure sensor is located in inside a the hull of public urinals which measures the pressure of a stream of urine aimed at the sensor. Located above the urinal is a color display loaded with minigames that are controlled by the user.

Currently, there are four games available. Manneken Pis scores the pressure of the urine stream which is translated into how much liquid was urinated. Graffiti Eraser uses a urine stream to control a hose that washes graffiti off a wall. The stronger the pressure of the stream, the quicker the wall is cleaned. The North Wind and Her takes the pressure of a users stream to blow the dress off a girl - the stronger the stream, the harder the wind blows. In Milk from Nose is an asynchronous multiplayer sumo-type game where two characters blow milk out of their noses to push the other out of the ring. The stronger the pressure between you and the previous user of the urinal wins.

If the game play style is not eye catching enough, the screens also double as advertising display boards post-game. The urinals are still in development, but as the screen shots indicate, development is well under way.

It is unknown whether Sega plans to add motion control in future iteration of the device. [via Akihabara News]
