MegaSeg split into DJ and Pro editions

updated 02:05 am EST, Fri December 17, 2010

DJ edition aimed at budget and amateur mixers

Fidelity Media has done some "fine tuning" on its MegaSeg DJing software, creating two editions and also tweaking some features and adding some presets, with the hope of making the product more affordable to those on a budget or just starting out, while making the program more powerful to experienced DJs and even professional TV and radio broadcasters.

The DJ edition ($149, currently on sale for $99 through the end of the year) contains many of the same features found in the most recent major version, MegaSeg 5.5 -- including the waveform visualizer and Magic Trackpad beat synchronizing.

The Pro edition ($249, currently on sale for $199) adds video playback, instant sound effects, request lists, color-coded tracks and library tools, along with features aimed at business-music, radio and V broadcasters such as automated playlist generation and scheduling options.

The Pro and existing 5.5 versions has been updated in both editions to v5.5.5, which adds a MIDI preset for Numark's Mixtrack controller, updated Hercules RMX preset, faster iTunes importing, smoother auto-volume control, and fixes for iTunes playlists, video stability, stream handling and the preview player.

The v5.5.5 update is free to all MegaSeg 5.x users, while upgrades from v4 and older are currently priced at $39 (DJ edition) and $59 (Pro edition) during the sale.
