iTunes preps for annual 12 Days of Christmas promotion

updated 04:10 pm EST, Mon December 13, 2010

Books join list of downloads

Apple has formally announced the 2010 edition of its 12 Days of Christmas promotion. For each 24 hours of the event, the company will be offering free downloads from different sections of the iTunes Store. This year the promotion will run from December 26th to January 6th; as usual, however, only people in the UK and some other European countries will be able to participate.

Two differences are marking the 2010 giveaways. For the first time Apple will be giving away books, owing to the launch of the iBookstore in April. The company is also preparing to launch an official 12 Days of Christmas app, though it is not yet available at the App Store.
