Records show Steve Jobs' unclaimed money

Includes small amounts from Apple, IBM

Records made public via California's Unclaimed Property Law show some of the money Steve Jobs is owed by various parties, notes AppleInsider. The Apple CEO is, for instance, technically owed $37.91 in wages from his own company. Perhaps the largest sum due is represented by several hundred dollars in unclaimed insurance and annuity checks.

Jobs is also due two shares of IBM stock, and one share of Time Warner. IBM has an additional $35 to pay, while Time Warner has 20 cents in dividend payments. Any of the unpaid property should be collectible by filing the appropriate paperwork online.

The executive scarcely needs additional income. While Apple only pays Jobs $1 in annual salary, he derives a considerable amount from stock options. He also serves on the Disney board of directors, and is the biggest individual Disney shareholder.

I wonder how much money is stuck under the cushions of his couch or has fallen into the cracks of his car seat? That would be valuable information to help understand his net worth.

So someone decided, while on the CA unclaimed property site, to go "Hey, let me type in Steve Jobs!" got some hits, and now it's all over the internet like it was 'news' or something.

Guess what, there's a lot of people with unclaimed property. It means nothing except usually someone didn't try that hard to find someone. It's law that companies need to 'try' to find the owners of property or accounts payable, and, if not, it goes to the state. Many companies just take the easy route and just shove it at the state without any effort at all.

I had unclaimed money that I 'found'. It was from my former company. How it didn't end up with me to begin with, I have no idea, for they had my address. And I didn't realize I had 'lost' money since it was an expense report payment they had already paid me. But, since it was already in the state's hands, it would have been silly not to recover it.

Thanks to testudo's ornery comment, I found the CA unclaimed property site, which I never new existed, and found that I had $13.00 there to claim! Not a windfall, but it is a free lunch!

Thanks MacNN for posting this story which prompted testudo's irritated comment, which led me to investigate the unclaimed property site.

Testudo, while I agree with you that the newsworthiness of this is questionable, it was an amusing post to read, and compared to other "news" posts, this one was actually news that I could use, since without the news post, you wouldn't have made your comment and I would have never known about the CA unclaimed property site. Thanks MacNN and testudo!

    Maybe he should

do the right thing and return some of the money that he stole from Steve Wozniak when Jobs made the deal with Atari.

This is your leader. A thief and a liar.

    I Found Over $3500

I have been a reader of this site for sometime and have never commented, but knew I had to when I saw this about Steve Jobs unclaimed money. What is even crazier than that is Mayor Bloomberg out of NYC found over a million dollars he misplaced svereal years ago from some stock. It is easy to see how a billionaire would lose " A FREAKIN MIL", but it is insane how fat this country is to be able to lose somewhere around $40Billion dollars among us common folk.

I have also heard many states are starting to use this money to help balance budgets in these hard times while others are putting time limits on how long you can make a claim.

There are many free sites available online, but I found to be extremely helpful in helping me locate over $3500 which had yet to be turned over to the government and these bozos called me up wanting to charge 35% to tell me where it was located. I would recommend this site to anyone, but if you do search on your own, be sure you are searching legit sites. There are many unclaimed money scams out to take your money!

Hope this helps anyone wanting to conduct a search.
