Already racing to the top of the charts

Epic Games eagerly anticipated iOS game Infinity Blade is now available on the iTunes App store. As the video trailer (below) demonstrates, the game brings gaming on mobile platforms into the league of consoles. The game is already proving extremely popular and has raced to the top of the Paid Apps charts as a universal download, meaning that the one version will work on both an iPad and iPhone.

The game download is a 318MB giving a further indication of the depth and complexity of the code and as well how much the iOS gaming platform has matured.

Infinity Blade takes place in a fully rendered 3D castle and uses touch and swipe gestures in order to carry out sword-based combat. As an example of the Action-RPG genre, the game keeps players interested by gaining experience, building stats and earning more powerful weapons.

Infinity Blade is selling for $6 on the iTunes App store and is compatible with the iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch 3rd and 4th generations.

I bought NOVA a year ago for my iTouch, and it's about 200MB, so this kind of size is not unheard of. Anyway, the size of the game says nothing about the "depth and complexity of the code". The code is probably a few megabytes; most of the data would be textures and sounds. Looking forward to checking this out....
