Rare retail giveaway
Bloomingdale's flagship store, in Manhattan at the corner of 59th and Lexington, is reportedly giving away iPads in order to lure holiday shoppers. The clothing retailer published a full-page ad in Sunday's New York Times, noting that next weekend people will be able to get an iPad after "almost any $1500 purchase in Y.E.S." People are restricted to "one each," according to fine print, and the number of units in stock is described as "definitely limited."
While it is now commonplace for iPads to be a prize in contests, the device is rarely handed out in consumer promotions. Most recently Saab announced an iPad giveaway for people willing to put down a deposit on the new 9-4X. The deposit is non-refundable though, and essentially buys the iPad if a person ultimately decides against getting the car.
