Synthetic Aperture updates Test Gear to v2.5

Plug-in adds test instruments to After Effects

Video plug-in maker Synthetic Aperture has updated their test-instrument plug-in for Adobe's After Effects CS5, Test Gear, to v2.5, adding 64-bit support for CS5 while maintaining 32-bit support for the CS3 and CS4 editions -- a move that significantly reduces the possibility of out-of-memory errors when rendering effects.

The program now also sports an improved histogram, slice and gamut display, new support for loading swatch books (.ase files) from other Adobe programs, automatically makes Photoshop and Illustrator swatch books available, and offers better display performance and an improved vectorscope with scrollwheel zoom for better white/black balancing.

The plug-in requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, and After Effects CS3 or later. A Windows version supports Windows XP or higher, including both 32- and 64-bit versions of Vista and Windows 7. The program costs $95, while upgrades from the previous version are $49. A time-limited demo is also available.
