Clear rags on Verizon for 4G data caps

updated 05:10 pm EST, Fri December 3, 2010

Clear exec compares Verizon 4G service

On his blog this week, Clearwire's Chief Commerical Officer Mike Sievert criticized Verizon's data caps on its LTE network that's due to debut on December 5. Sievert believed next-generation 4G networks need to offer speed, capacity and value, and while Verizon will offer the speed, he says it will lack in the other two categories. Clear's WiMAX service offers all three, Sievert said.

He compared the two plans, noting that Clear offered 20GB of monthly usage for $45. In comparison, a Verizon LTE customer would pay $180 for the same amount of data when the overage fees are taken into account on a 10GB per month plan. The Verizon 10GB plan is priced at $80 per month, with each gigabyte over that costing $10.

Verizon's LTE network promises to be about 10 times faster than its 3G network, at between 5Mbps and 12Mbps, and should also be faster than Clear's WiMAX.

At least Verizon is following the world standard this time, unlike WiMax c*** which doesnt even use SIMs. And as for data caps! Give me a break, Sprint's "4G" network, which runs on Clear's WiMAX, is limited to a lousy 6mbps download speed, and there gonna talk about caps!? I guess you don't need a data cap when you got speeds that slow.
