A chance to try out the software at no cost
Following on from its recent release of the full Vue 9 line of 3D landscape creation software, E-On software has now made available Personal Learning Editions (PLE) of Vue 9 XStream and Vue 9 Infinite, together with a trial version of the company's "3D Artist" lineup, Vue 9 Esprit, Studio and Complete.
The Personal Learning Editions are cost-free ways for users to try out the company's digital nature technology either in the form of a standalone app (Vue 9 Infinite) or as a plug-in to other popular 3D packages (Vue 9 XStream). Though a PLE is fully-functional and has no expiration date, scenes created with it cannot be exchanged with other PLE or versions of Vue software, are unable to be network-rendered and carry a watermark and logo. PLEs are intended for personal, non-commercial use. Vue 9 XStream supports 3ds Max, Maya, LightWave, Cinema4D and Softimage. The PLEs come with a full PDF reference manual.
The Vue 9 trial version is a free, functional but 30-day limited version of either Vue 9 Esprit, Studio and Complete (the user chooses which package to install). Saving, terrain export, standalone and network rendering are all disabled in the trial version, render resolution is limited to 640x480, animation length to five seconds, and the trial offers only limited selections of plants, materials and atmospheres.
Both the trial and PLE editions are English only at present, and require an Intel Mac running OS X 10.5 or higher (32- and 64-bit compatible). French and German localizations will be available soon, according to the company. A Windows version supporting Windows XP or better is also available.
