Motorola Olympus surfaces in working form with Android 2.2

updated 10:10 am EST, Wed December 1, 2010

Moto Olympus bought working from flea market

Motorola had a potentially embarrassing leak today as the Olympus was obtained in fully functional form. Allegedly bought at a flea market, the smartphone was clearly not the Defy as it had both a larger (four-inch) screen and what looked to be a front facing camera. Gizmodo's tipster noted that it was using Android 2.2, however, supporting the view that it was a prototype; finished versions are more likely to have 2.3 for video chat.

The OS version is both using Motorola's newer Blur UI and is identified as being attached to AT&T, confirming the GSM carrier's plans to ship by January. HDMI output and a micro USB port have also been spotted in the early look.

The Olympus is already known to use NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 and should have 802.11n Wi-Fi. Some features, like the exact resolutions of the cameras and any built-in storage, still aren't known. It may not be an exclusive and could ship for Verizon.

    I must say

Bought at the flea market is definitely worse than being found in a bar.

    Nice looking phone though. Yes?
