Orange UK outlines 3G iPad plans early

Orange UK has confirmed its subsidized 3G iPad plans and has started taking registrations for advance interest. The carrier will sell 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPads for 199, 249 and 349 respectively when attached to a two-year contract. Plans cost 25 per month for existing users, 27 for new customers, and provide 1GB of data in peak hours as well as 1GB during "quiet time" between midnight and 4PM.

The plan also supplies unlimited Wi-Fi at BT Openzone hotspots, although this is subject to a 3GB "fair usage" condition.

In spite of the plans, Orange has still declined to provide a release date. The carrier has only said so far that will have iPads "in the coming months," echoing timeframes given by 3 and T-Mobile. The ambiguous wording is similar to that which Apple has asked carriers to give before the launch of a new iPhone, although the mention of specific iPad prices casts doubt on whether or not subsidized access will accompany a new iPad revision.
