Acer Windows 7 tablet to be powered by AMD’s Bobcat APU

updated 05:55 am EST, Thu November 25, 2010

Dual-core with integrated Radeon HD 6250

Acer's forthcoming Windows 7 tablet announced earlier this week is believed to be based on AMD's Bobcat platform. In this application, Digitimes sources believe that it's AMD's C-50 Ontario 1.0GHz dual-core variant, which also features integrated Radeon HD 6250 graphics. AMD claims that their processors have a speed, graphics and power advantage over Intel's Atom platform.

The 10.1-inch Acer Windows 7 tablet incorporates two 1.3-megapixel webcams, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity and comes with a docking station that also includes a keyboard. It is due to launch in February 2011.

Also in the Acer product pipeline are a 7-inch tablet equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon-based model and a 10.1-inch Tegra 2-based model due to launch in April 2011. [via Digitimes]
