Opera 11 beta arrives with tab stacking

updated 12:20 pm EST, Tue November 23, 2010

Opera 11 beta now out, brings tab stacking

Opera announced the availability of a beta for Opera 11, which most significantly supports tab stacking. An open tab management feature, it lets users stack their tabs, grouping them by site or by theme. The process is easy and involves dragging one tab on top of another.

Users can then access the tabs within a group by expanding them all, leaving them in-line with the other open tabs, grouped or otherwise, or clicking on the tab and getting a preview of all contained windows.

Also new in Opera 11 are extensions, or browser add-ons that improve upon its capabilities much like those in Chrome, Firefox and Safari. In the three-week period since they first showed up in Opera 11 alpha, over half a million have been downloaded.

The beta should be available for Mac, Linux, Windows and other platforms as of today.
