Most significant Nook software update released
Barnes & Noble has just released its promised 1.5 update for grayscale Nook e-readers. The update is the most significant to date, and brings with it a 50 percent faster page refresh rate. It also offers syncing bookmarks between the Nook itself and any apps for Android, iOS and computers.
Other newfound features include customizable folders for the library, a password option, new search functions and improved battery life. The My B&N Library brings My Shelves, which organizes B&N Libraries by a particular subject or theme. The password will keep unauthorized users from downloading any content from the store. A passcode can also be set that will be required when the Nook is sitting idle for a set number of minutes.
A search function improvement will return results from the My Documents folder users side-load into the device.
Available for both the 3G and Wi-Fi versions, 1.5 is available as an over-the-air update or manually through Nook's support page.
