iOS game "Cut the Rope" hits 3M sold; update coming

updated 08:55 pm EST, Thu November 18, 2010

v1.1 to introduce new box, 25 new levels

Games publisher Chillingo -- best known for their runaway iOS hit Angry Birds -- has revealed that their popular physics-puzzle iOS game Cut the Rope has sold over three million copies, and that a new update coming soon (v1.1) will debut a new "Cosmic Box," Retina Display graphics, improved scoring accuracy and 11 new achievements.

The game centers around the mysterious delivery of a box containing Om Nom, a green monster who must be fed candy. Players attempt to delivery the dangling candy to the creature in the box by use of strategic line-cutting, avoiding hazards and collecting bonus stars without dropping the candy anywhere except into Om Nom's mouth. The game sells for $1 (iPhone and iPod Touch or $2 (iPad), and there is a free "Lite" version available.

The v1.1 update will add anti-gravity features to the puzzles, along with a more expressive version of Om Nom and new musical sound effects.
