Hulu Plus 2.0 app upgrades playback, iPad interface

updated 03:35 pm EST, Wed November 17, 2010

Upgrade coincides with price drop

Video service Hulu has upgraded the Hulu Plus iOS app to v2.0. The title should now have better playback performance, as well as "enhanced" queue and subscription functions. Particular emphasis has been put on the iPad interface, which now has a split-screen player, and treats thumbnails differently.

The app lets users watch shows from networks like ABC, NBC and Fox on any handheld running iOS 3.2 or later. Downloading it is free, but access to Plus content requires a paid monthly subscription. Hulu today lowered the subscription price from $10 a month to $8, a response to an absent influx of customers during a test phase.

    Cost...

Are you not able to use the Hulu+ app to watch the *free* content available on the website or does it require the $8/month fee to access anything on the iOS app?

    Re: Cost

This confused me at first too. The Hulu+ app works, but is VERY limited in what you can watch. And even if you pay $8/month, you still get less content than what's available on the web site. For the shows I watch, I think about half of them are available on the mobile app.
