Plextor to bring out secure four-bay NAS drive
Plextor has introduced its latest network-attached storage (NAS) device on Wednesday, the PX-NAS4. It gets two Ethernet ports for data throughput of up to 2Gbps and a storage capacity of up to 8TB spread across its four hot-swappable bays. External drives can be connected thanks to eSATA and USB ports.
The PX-NAS4 also gets an iSCSI interface, and all data stored on the NAS is protected with AES 256-bit encryption. User can configure the NAS into a plain set of disks as well as RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 or RAID 10 arrays, while a hot spare bay can be configured into RAID 1 and RAID 5.
To simplify backup, the PX-NAS4 has a Snapshot Backup Utility. The Plextor NAS uses 58W in full access mode or 25W in standby mode. The PX-NAS4 will be available at the end of the month for $400.
