Rahul Sood announces departure from HP

Rahul Sood, the founder of Voodoo PC and the CTO of Global Gaming at HP, announced on his blog on Monday that he will leave his post at HP effective December 2. In the lengthy letter, Sood reflects upon his time at HP and starting the Voodoo brand out of high school, but does little to explain his hard-fought decision to leave HP. Sood does take the time to thank all those involved in helping him along his career path, however, including fans, partners at AMD, ATI, Intel and NVIDIA.

"We merged, we invented, we kicked ass, and we had fun, but then things got a little complicated," is the closest to an explanation Sood offered of his split from HP, but didn't elaborate.

Voodoo was acquired by HP back in 2006, with the brand absorbed into HP's mainstream lineup in 2008. Traces of Voodoo technology can now be found in HP's Envy-branded products and usually focus on high performance and high-end enclosures.

As for his future, Sood says he can't wait to be once again directly involved in a new product pipeline. Whether or not he has an idea of where or when that may be hasn't been revealed.
