Samsung planning 2011 mega phone with Super AMOLED 2

Samsung 2011 Android flagship to pack 4.5in screen

Samsung may start 2011 with an especially ambitious Android phone revolving around an even more high-end screen than in the leak tonight of two presentation slides this evening has shown an unnamed device that would use as much as a 4.5-inch, Super AMOLED 2 screen that would likely improve the image quality beyond what already exists today. The screen would play an important role for video, as a 1.2GHz processor (likely Samsung's) would give it enough power to both play and record 1080p video, Engadget's example said.

The device would represent sweeping upgrades overall, moving up to an eight-megapixel camera and 14.4Mbps HSPA on those networks that could support it. It would be a vehicle for Gingerbread, Android 2.3, and could be extremely thin: a side shot mockup shows a device with thickness closer to that of a classic iPod nano than most smartphones.

Bluetooth 3.0, 16GB of internal storage and 802.11n Wi-Fi would port over from the Galaxy S.

Timing for the device would have it launch in February, which coincides with the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona. Samsung rarely ships phones unveiled at the show immediately afterwards, but it does reserve the event for what it considers flagships, such as the Wave. As it would be launching this device sooner, it's implied Samsung is hoping to preempt the usual mid-year iPhone update as well as any comparable rivals from HTC and Motorola.

    It's an iPhone Ripoff

Am I wrong to say that Apple invented this?

That would be one VERY impressive Android phone! That would indeed be great competition to Apple's iPhone.

    Just a little longer.

The screen sounds amazing but I really want one of those Dual core phones I've been hearing about... That would be multi-tasking heaven.

    super AMOLED megaphone!

The way it works, the screen is flexible, and you roll it up into a tiny little cone which you can use as a megaphone. It is most accurately described as a "mini-megaphone".
