HTC Merge changed to add 4G, Incredible HD 4G too?

HTC Merge and Incredible HD may both be LTE

Verizon's HTC Merge may have been altered at the last minute to add a 4G connection. Third-party store manager Jeremiah at a Verizon briefing was told yesterday by an HTC representative that the Android slider was "ready to go" but had been altered to put in LTE, making it the first LTE smartphone in the US. When it would ship wasn't known. Jeremiah was originally told November 23, but whether it's delayed or not isn't known, he said.

The manager added that he had been told the HTC Incredible HD would also be LTE, corroborating though not confirming an earlier rumor. It wouldn't arrive until early 2011, but it would purportedly be part of a much more aggressive phone launch with Verizon. Supposedly, the carrier will have a new HTC Android phone at least once a month for the first quarter of 2011, amounting to three or four new models.

The Merge will be the first Android slider from HTC for Verizon and should be the first phone from any company on the network with Qualcomm's second-generation Snapdragon processor, making it one of the fastest devices at the same time. A 3.7-inch LCD and a five-megapixel camera would make it relatively conventional. The Incredible HD would have a similar performance upgrade but jump to a 4.3-inch screen, possibly higher resolution than 800x480, and carry an eight-megapixel camera.

Also shown were the just released LG Octane and the LG Vortex, the Verizon adaptation of the Optimus S and Optimus T from other networks. The full-touch phone is considered mid-range with a 600MHz processor, Android 2.2 and a a 3.2-megapixel camera. [via MobileCrunch]
