Jabra brings out Stone2 headset with voice control

Jabra Stone2 headset takes voice guidance

Jabra today updated its signature Bluetooth headset. The Stone2 keeps its signature twist shape and namesake charger but adds voice control and guidance. On a basic level, the earpiece will read out caller ID or the phone number and either take or end the call by speaking "answer" or "ignore." Many devices can also start a call through speaking the name or number, and Jabra's app platform opens the option of voice-guided e-mail, searches, social networking and text messages.

iPhone owners get special treatment, including a separate headset battery level in the phone's status bar much like the Aliph Jawbone or Apple's old official headset. A native, yet to be launched Stone2 app will give newcomers to headsets help setting up.

As with the original Stone, the Stone2 only lasts for about two hours of talking when detached due to its thin profile but can work for an additional eight hours when plugged into the charger and serving as a speakerphone. Rapid charging helps make up for the difference by bringing the headset up to a full charge in as little as 20 minutes.

The headset will be an AT&T exclusive and should be in its stores on November 21 for $129 in both smooth and leather-effect finishes.
