iPad comes to Russian retailers

updated 03:45 pm EST, Wed November 10, 2010

Country lacks official Apple sales

The iPad is now on sale in Russia, reports and Apple's website confirm. Sales are said to have begun at approximately 7PM local time through three chains: M.Video, Bely Veter and re:Store. Distribution is described as limited. M.Video, for instance, is only selling the tablet in four cities, including Moscow.

Prices range from 19,990 rubles ($652) for a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad through to 32,990 rubles ($1,077) for a 64GB 3G model. Gray-market tablets are said to have been in the region since April, though, potentially costing buyers as much as 100,000 rubles each. Official sales are limited to third-party retailers, as Apple has yet to establish an online or physical store presence in the country.
