UStream adds iPod touch (4th gen), works over 3G
UStreamTV has added support for the fourth-generation iPod Touch and a new full-screen broadcasting display to their free UStream Broadcaster app v2, allowing users iPhone and Touch users capable of running iOS 4.0 or higher to use the built-in cameras to create their own video stream over 3G or wi-fi.
The program allows either live broadcast or video recording of events for future broadcast to be transmitted to UStream's servers to a potentially unlimited audience. The program also allows users of Twitter and Facebook to send messages directly to the broadcaster, who can respond during transmission.
The new version sports a redesigned layout for full-screen broadcasting, more sharing before and after broadcasts, better social network interactivity (including polling), and front/back camera switching (for devices with dual cameras). Videos can be recorded and uploaded to YouTube from directly within the app, or uploaded to Twitter, UStream, or UStream's Facebook application for rebroadcast.
UStream Broadcaster also has versions of the app available for Android (OS 1.5 or higher) and Nokia (S60 3rd Edition) smartphones with cameras as well. For all iOS devices, UStream offers a separate free viewer app (for iOS 3.0 and higher) that allows viewers to see recorded or live events and participate in chatroom functions if enabled, and a separate recorder app for the 3GS iPhone to record video for later upload to Twitter or UStream.
