Tech requires monthly data-only plan
Sprint will soon be carrying the ZTE Peel, an iPod touch case that enables 3G data, a leaked document confirms. The case operates as a mobile hotspot, converting a 3G signal into Wi-Fi for a Touch and as well as a second nearby device of the user's choice. It is only compatible with second- and third-generation Touches, however, and not the fourth-gen model, which has rear- and front-facing cameras, and uses a different back.
The case requires a $30 data plan, which gets users 1GB of data per month, with an overage rate of 5 cents per megabyte. Although the plan lacks roaming and is "non-discountable," it can be activated on a month-to-month basis, similarly to an iPad plan with AT&T or Verizon. The case itself costs $80, and should be available on November 14th.
