HTC hints Desire HD coming to North America through Telus

HTC clue points to Desire HD hitting Canada first

HTC's Desire HD may get its first North American appearance through Telus based on slips both from sources and HTC itself. Visitors to the Canadian registration page for HTC's Sense service are given the option of picking the Desire HD where it should only have shown the Desire Z that just launched at Bell. Until now, the Desire HD was previously off-limits for North America as it didn't support the 3G frequencies used by Canadian carriers and AT&T.

The carrier wasn't named in the leak, but unconfirmed tips from HowardForums point to Telus being the primary choice. It might not carry the larger Android phone until early 2011 but already has the original Desire in its stable, making the newer model a likely fit. Canadian providers have often had one HTC Android phone each with the exception of the initial debut on Rogers.

The Desire HD is considered an international but more advanced equivalent to the Evo 4G. Its 4.3-inch screen and eight-megapixel camera are familiar, but it has a second-generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor and comes with Android 2.2 from the beginning. HTC has lightened the internal storage to 1.5GB since it can rely on a microSDHC card for extra storage. [via Cellular Guru]

    HTC Desire Demonstration Video

I work for the GetConnected TV show in Canada (you might have seen our show on BNN, MenTV, Sun TV, and CHEK). We stay on top of the tech scene in Canada, and we really appreciate all the new phones hitting the Canadian market. We are developing a series of short Web videos featuring some of the latest mobile handsets and our first was for the HTC Desire

We’d love your feedback on the video and on the phone itself. With the Desire HD and HTC 7 coming soon, it will be really interesting to see what operating system is most successful for HTC phones. The Desire is nice and fast so the Desire HD must be amazing.
