Mic stand attachment supports Apple's tablet

IK Multimedia has introduced the iKlip, a new universal microphone stand adapter that supports attaching the iPad, allowing easy viewing of scores, monitoring recording levels, karaoke or teleprompter duties, or even adjusting amps and effects with the company's own AmpliTube for iPad software. The $40 add-on retains access to all the iPad's buttons and ports and can be used in portrait or landscape orientation.

Made in Italy of durable thermoplastic with six "touch points" that snap the iPad securely into place, the iKlip can be adjusted for optimum viewing angle on either the vertical "leg" of the mic stand or the perpendicular "boom," making it useful to just about any sort of musician, DJ, singer or speaker and installable in seconds.

The iKlip will begin shipping next month, though pre-orders are being taken now.

It's been cool to see how much creative software and how many content-creation accessories like this have come out for the iPad. This looks like it'd work great with AmpKit or iRig.

Guess the iPad's not just for consumption after all...
