Tool quarantines questionable files
Sophos today released a free piece of Mac security software, Anti-Virus Home Edition. The utility is based on the company's business software, and said to be full-featured with the same threat detection, cleaning and quarantining. It addresses both Mac and Windows threats, to prevent Macs from spreading Windows malware, and can detect new viruses. Once files are quarantined, they can be examined/or deleted.
Like some other antivirus software the Sophos app works in the background, with options for more involved scans, checking for updates and working on quarantined files via a Menu Bar icon. Sophos has set up a Mac-centric support forum for the Home Edition.
The program requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and 256MB of RAM. It runs on both Intel and PowerPC processors.

Looses?
Seriously? I thought "outs" was bad enough. What's so offensive about the world "releases?"
It's software, not a stray dog.
