Apple considering El Paso retail store?

updated 04:40 pm EDT, Mon November 1, 2010

Shop would serve several regions

Apple has been searching El Paso, Texas for a place to put a new retail store, a report claims. Real estate sources in fact suggest that the company has most likely settled on the Sunland Park Mall, a two-level complex in a neighborhood with higher-than-average household income as compared to the city as a whole. A current lease plan shows three large spaces available on the ground level.

The choice of city is thought to be significant, as an El Paso Apple Store would be the first to fill in a gap spread across 10 US states. The city also forms the wedge in a tri-area border with Mexico and New Mexico, potentially giving Apple access to customers from as far away as Las Cruces and Chihuahua. Texas already has a number of Apple Stores, located in cities like Austin, Dallas and Houston.
