Liquavista shows fast, 'unbreakable' flexible displays

updated 02:35 pm EDT, Thu October 28, 2010

Liquavista makes color flexible display prototype

Liquavista has just shown off its electrowetting color display cells in prototype form. The displays are said to be capable of running color video at low power on an unbreakable screen that is lightweight, thin, flexible and rugged. The company's CTO and founder, Johan Feenstra, believed the prototype is a key step in high-volume manufacturing, as it is compatible with standard glass or any other substrates.

The display technology is ideally suited for use in e-readers, mobile phones, GPS devices, portable media players and cameras due to its high visibility in all light conditions. The technology is also said to be highly-scalable, and can eventually be applied to larger screens such as those in notebooks and TVs.
Details on the technology are available in the white paper (PDF). [via InAVate]
