White iPhone 4 disappears from online Apple store

Apple pulls white iPhone 4 online

Apple today quietly pulled the white iPhone 4 from the online Apple Store. All countries that offer the iPhone online now only show the black iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3GS. The white hue is still visible in the store's image gallery and in the regular product page.

Until today, Apple had maintained the white iPhone 4 on the store and had simply said it was "currently unavailable" to buy despite multiple delays. The decision to delay white iPhones to the spring has given the company little incentive to keep the unavailable color scheme in its store.

Unconfirmed rumors have suggested that Apple has cancelled the white iPhone 4 altogether and that the spring date amounted to a white version for the next-generation model instead. Blame has shifted alternately between the difficulty of getting consistently colored phones in high production numbers and the unintentional effect of the white, reflective glass on the camera flash.

Apple pulled a serious c***-up on this

white iPhone version. Just trying to be fancy turned production into a fiasco. I wonder if Apple lost a lot of money in the process due to the unforeseen camera exposure glitch. Hard to believe they never saw that one coming. I guess that's why camera makers don't build see-through models.

    Quality Control

I really am starting to wonder about the "Designed in California, made in China" concept. Does Apple even build test models? If so, do they really test them as vigorously as they claim? After the white iPhone issue and antenna problems with the iPhone, and let's not forget many Mac issues, I think Apple has become a victim of it's own success.

You can't blame China for this fiasco, Lamewing! I'm with iphonerulez that it is hubris to design something that you can't actually manufacture. Someone needs a good kicking!

    Make it silver Apple

I would rather see a silver/aluminum colored version!
