Apple obtains permit from Roseville officials
The Roseville Galleria Apple Store has already re-opened, well ahead of some other shops in the fire-damaged mall, a report says. To do so Apple had to obtain an occupancy permit from city officials. An arson incident last Thursday caused at least $55 million in damage to the Galleria, forcing the entire facility to shut down, although portions like the Apple Store may have emerged with few if any scars.
The Apple Store belongs to a group of about 75 outlets re-opening in the next seven to 10 days, spared serious problems because of their distance from the fire's point of origin. Another 120 shops were more heavily damaged, and only 80 of these are now expected to open by Thanksgiving; the remaining 40 will be closed for several months. Cleaning and construction crews have been working on restoring the mall for several days already, as it is critical to the local economy.
