Google working on Nexus Two with Carphone Warehouse?

Nexus Mk II adopting alternate sales strategy

UK-based business paper City AM is reporting that Google is planning a second Google-branded Nexus phone for a Holiday 2010 launch. According to the report, Google is said to have struck an exclusive deal with UK's Carphone Warehouse. The exclusive deal is purportedly an alternative go-to-market strategy than previously adopted by Google with its online-only model for the Nexus One, which ultimately proved to be unsuccessful.

"It could be a solution to the problems [Google] experienced when it tried to sell the Nexus One exclusively through its website," an industry source allegedly said. "People like to be able to go to a store - this solves that."

While HTC was responsible for building the Nexus One, it is unclear which manufacturer Google has tapped to build Google's next attempt at a flag bearer for its rapidly expanding Android platform. If it launches, the Nexus Two will be running Google's recently completed next generation iteration of the Android OS dubbed Gingerbread.

Hardware details or pricing have thus far managed to stay under wraps. Neither Google nor Carphone Warehouse were prepared to discuss speculation. However, the rumor has been cast into doubt as Google has previously ruled out Nexus One sequels under the claim that phones like the Droid Incredible and Evo 4G were fulfilling the intended goals.
