Samsung November 8 event may bring Continuum
Samsung today sent an invitation to the media to attend a hardware launch in New York City on November 8. The teaser would only say that it would bring a "new Android device" without giving clues. Its last major event brought about the Galaxy Tab.
The unveiling's most likely candidate is the Continuum, one of if not the first dual-screen Android smartphones available. It would revolve around a secondary AMOLED display known as the "ticker" that could provide news, time, weather and more without having to turn on the main display. The main screen itself will be an AMOLED smaller than the four-inch version on the Fascinate, but the 1GHz processor, five-megapixel camera and customized Android UI should persist.
Verizon has been pegged as the only carrier so far and should have the Continuum by the end of the year.
